Upper Peninsula Maple Farm Facing Long Recovery After Storm Damage

The storm that caused thousands to lose power has also left a long-term mark on the eastern Upper Peninsula.

One Chippewa County business says the damage is so bad, it will take years to recover.

Michigan Maple Farms in Rudyard has about 9,000 trees they tap in the spring to make maple syrup.

They say between cleaning up debris and repairing lines, it is going to be a long process.

Even though there is damage, the farm says they’ll have plenty of syrup this season.

Ross says they hope to tap the trees in about a month if the weather holds out.
