Significant progress is being made on power outages in the Upper Peninsula.

Cloverland Electric has been working for days to turn the lights back on.

The utility company says crews from nine other providers have come from across the state to help out.

On Tuesday, more than 8,000 homes and businesses were without power in Chippewa County.

As of Saturday night, there were less than 350 customers in the dark.

The Red Cross shelter is also still open at the Superior Township Hall for those who need a warm place to go.

In Mackinaw County, there were around 170 people without power.

Cloverland says they hope to have the power back to most customers by Sunday night.
