Coast Guardsman From Ludington Faces Court Martial After Murder Charge
A coast guardsman from Northern Michigan is facing a court-martial after the death of a fellow serviceman in Alaska.
Ethan Tucker of Ludington is charged with the murder of 19-year-old Ethan Ketch from Virginia Beach, VA.
Military prosecutors say in January, the 21-year-old Tucker beat Kelch and left him in cold waters where he drowned.
Tucker’s lawyer says a video recorded by a witness show Tucker’s attempts to rescue the coastguardsman.
At the time, both were serving on a cutter based in Kodiak, Alaska.
Tucker is also charged with involuntary manslaughter and making an official false statement.
Court documents say Tucker lied when he said he injured his hand by punching a steel bulkhead.
Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Stephen Brickey says the court-martial is expected to happen in 2020.
