Cherryland Electric Awards More Than $25K to Local Non-Profits

Cherryland Electric is lighting up the holidays, donating more than $25,000 just last week.

Cherryland Cares is a grant program that allows members to round their bill up to the nearest dollar. That money is then pooled and donated to local charities around northern Michigan.

Over the course of 2019, Cherryland Cares granted more than $55,000 to 17 local non-profits, including Benzie Area Christian Neighbors and Betsie Valley Community Center.

“At Cherryland we’re really committed to supporting the community we serve and these non-profits are doing really good work, so if we can pool our change together to make a difference with them, that’s a really good way to make our community better,” says Rachel Johnson, member relations manager at Cherryland Electric.

Since the start of Cherryland Cares in 2006, the program has awarded more than $520,000.
