Pine Lake Winds Band Spreading Holiday Cheer through Music at American House in Charlevoix
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! There are so many things to celebrate and everyone has their favorite. The Pine Lake Winds Band in Charlevoix loves the holidays because of music.
Linda Henry says, “Christmas music is just happy and joyful and you walk around humming it all day.” The Pine Lake Winds Band, affectionately known as the “Geezer Band” performs at local senior assisted living facilities like the American House in Charlevoix.
Ev Wujcik, the band director of the band explains why this audience is so special, “They can’t go out and catch concerts. So we come to them because a lot of them can get out but a lot of them can’t.”
It’s a win-win at this holiday concert. The musicians are happy to be performing and the residents are happy to have some company. Band member Linda Henry says, “It makes me feel like I’m doing something worthwhile.”
The resident’s reactions are proof enough that the Christmas spirit lives in song. “We look out and we see tapping their toes and they’re singing along and it warms us inside just as much as we hope Christmas music warms them too!”
