Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Winter Activities

Embracing the snow and winter weather is what living in northern Michigan is all about, especially along the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.  There are specific snowshoe trails the park service prepares for people wanting to take part in snowshoeing through Leelanau County, and they even provide guided tours through March.

It’s a great way for families and friends to come together and experience nature along the lakeshore in a whole new way.  Park ranger, Emily Sunblade says the best place to start is the Philip A. Hart Visitor Center in Empire on Highway M72 at 1 p.m. People can also make reservations at 231-326-4700, ext. 5010.
