Soo Locks Children’s Museum Receives Anonymous Donation

Sault Ste. Marie took a major step toward opening a children’s museum thanks to a generous, anonymous donation.

Someone who lives in Chippewa County donated $50,000 to the Chippewa County Community Foundation and the Soo Locks Children’s Museum Board on Monday.

The $400,000 project will be housed in this newly renovated building across from the Soo Locks.

The museum will be tailored for kids up to 12 years old.

“This is just an outstanding donation for the group.  It will be utilized towards exhibits.  It’s total elation because we have worked so hard,” said Soo Locks Children’s Museum Board President Diane Chevillot.

The museum is expected to open up this summer.
