Two People Dead After Minivan Catches Fire in Gladwin County

Deputies say two people are dead and two children are hurt after an accident in Gladwin County.

The sheriff’s office says they were called to the intersection of E. Knox Rd. and Wieman Rd. in Billings township Saturday around 12 a.m.

Deputies say a Chrysler minivan was driving east but did not stop at the intersection.

They say it went through a ditch, hit a tree in someone’s back yard and then caught fire.

The homeowner was able to pull out two boys, ages 9 and 11, from the van.

The sheriff’s office says the man who was driving and a woman were unable to get out.

They say both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The two boys were taken to the hospital for their injuries.

The homeowner was also treated for injuries they suffered while rescuing the kids.
