Death Toll Continues to Rise Following Volcanic Eruption in New Zealand

The death toll from the volcanic eruption in New Zealand continues to grow.

Police say they now believe 16 people have died.

The announcement of the new deaths comes as the volcano on White Island continues to vent more steam and mud.

Experts say it’s still too dangerous to return to the island to recover the bodies left there after Monday’s eruption.

They say there’s a good chance another eruption is on the way.

Dozens of people are still being treated in hospitals across New Zealand.

That’s pushing burn units to capacity, with supplies being flown in from other countries, including the United States.
