House Democrats and White House Reach Deal to Renegotiate USMCA Deal
House Democrats and the White House have reached a deal to move forward with president Trump’s renegotiated North American free trade agreement.
Trade negotiators from the United States, Mexico and Canada signed the modified USMCA deal Tuesday.
The White House was eager to have the deal finalized before the 2020 election.
But House Democrats pushed for more provisions on labor, environment and pharmaceuticals.
The White House wants Congress to try to ratify the revised trade deal before the end of the year.
