Russia Gets Four Year International Sports Ban
Russia has been banned from hosting, and competing in, major international sporting events for four years.
The world anti-doping agency handed down the suspension Monday.
It comes after Russia’s anti-doping agency was ruled non-compliant with the international anti-doping code.
Monday’s announcement means that Russian athletes cannot compete in next year’s Olympics in Tokyo under the Russian flag, and the next FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Russia says it plans to appeal the suspension.
