Old Fashioned Christmas at Grand Traverse Lighthouse in Northport

The holidays are a perfect time to celebrate family traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. The Grand Traverse Lighthouse in Northport is embracing the big holiday and their love of all things maritime by putting on a festive event called “Old Fashioned Christmas.”

Stef Staley, the Executive Director at the lighthouse explains, “Each room has a different theme based upon the period of the time the keeper was here.”

With multiple rooms, you can find artifacts as old as the early 1850’s. Each room reflects the family who lived in the lighthouse during that time and how they celebrated Christmas.

This event is family friendly and sure to keep the children entertained. “Santa’s workshop is where there are tons of activities and things for the kids to do,” explains Stef Staley. There is a Jokers Table, pin the carrot on the snowman, 12 days of Christmas paper chains, hot cocoa, cookie decorating and much more.

The event takes place Sunday December 1 through Sunday December 8th, which is their biggest event taking place from 1-4 pm.
