Traverse City Turkey Trot Promotes Healthy Lifestyles and Food Pantry Donations

The Turkey Trot is a great way to work up an appetite before your Thanksgiving dinner and it’s all for a good cause.

The 12th Annual Turkey Trot is happening Thursday morning in Traverse City.

There are two different race distances.

You can either do a 5K or 5 miles.

The goal is to promote healthy lifestyles as well as give back to tart trails.

Plus, you can bring donations for Father Fred’s Food Pantry.

“As many people know, we have a fairly significant food pantry. And in our food pantry, we’re always trying to make the best choices possible, so we really try to emphasize foods that are high in proteins and low in sugars,” said Executive Director Deb Haase.

The races start at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

If you’d like to donate, the 10 most requested items are canned chicken, canned tuna, oatmeal, peanut butter, dried beans, rice, pasta, soups, and canned fruit.
