Strong Winds Affect Mackinac Bridge, Star Line Ferry Breaks Loose From Dock

The Mackinac Bridge is under a wind escort.

Wednesday morning it was at a partial closure, but that has been lifted.

Anyone hauling a camper or semis must be escorted across the bridge by Bridge Authority workers

And Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry says they’ve delayed their first trip to the island because of the wind.

The ferry was supposed to leave around 7:30.

Now they say they’re waiting for more daylight so they can assess the situation.

We also want to mention that one of Star Line’s ferries broke loose from its dock in St. Ignace.

However, Mackinac County Central Dispatch tells us crews are working to get it back in place.

They also say there are no safety or pollution concerns.
