Kids Make Mug Cakes to Donate Money to Local Animal Shelter

Christmas is just weeks away and children around Northern Michigan are excited to be paid a visit by none other than Santa Claus himself. But, the Wiltshire children are celebrating the big holiday early. Not because they are excited to get gifts but rather give gifts.

They have been hard at work making their iconic Reindeer Mug Cakes for the Lake Odessa Craft show taking place on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30. The money raised from this show will go to the Osceola Animal Shelter.

“A mug cake is just simple ingredients that you put inside of a mug. Quick and easy dessert that you can enjoy any time of the year,” explains Mother of three, Sadie Wiltshire.

These children are determined to spread holiday cheer. Josie age 5 says, “It’s because we want to make money for the animals and the shelter. So they can live and be healthy.”

This year will put the Wiltshire family over 1,000 dollars donated to the local animal shelter. Sadie is hoping this inspires her children for years to come. “I just want to show them that we can always give back. It doesn’t have to be a very large amount. Small things can make a difference.”

If you would like to purchase one of the “Cakes for a Cause” or would like to donate to the Wiltshires on their mission to support their local animal shelter, you can visit them at the “Christmas ‘Round the Town” craft show in Lake Odessa on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30.
