Paddle Antrim is one step closer to fully funding the Chain of Lakes Water Trail.

The Consumers Energy Foundation gave Paddle Antrim a 25,000 dollar grant for the project.

The 80-mile water trail will wind through four counties and 16 lakes and rivers.

Paddle Antrim says they can now start work on the trail, thanks to this grant.

“We are now to the point where we are going to install signs at all 81 access sites, develop a paddlers guide so when people are out in the water they actually know where they’re going as well and provide other marketing materials to truly open the trail so when people come up they have a quality experience out on the water,” said Executive Director of Paddle Antrim, Deana Jerdee.

Paddle Antrim’s goal is to raise 275,000 dollars.
