Reed City Welcomes Former NASA Astronaut

People in Reed City had the chance today to hear from a former NASA astronaut on Friday.

Greg Johnson flew missions on the space shuttle Endeavor.

Those missions helped carry supplies to the international space station.

Johnson now speaks around the country about his career at NASA.

He says he hopes to inspire the next generation of astronauts as NASA prepares for what could be historic missions.

“With me it was a dream to be an astronaut when I was 7, it did take a long time to get to space, but if you keep that dream out there and then you do things that you love along the way and still allow for that possibility, then these stretch goals can happen,” said Johnson.

Johnson says he was first inspired to be an astronaut while watching the moon landing 50 years ago.
