World Diabetes Day: Are You at Risk?

Nov. 19 is  and according to the International Diabetes Federation, one in ten people will develop the condition in their lifetime.

It is the leading cause of blindness, amputations, heart disease, kidney failure, and early death.

According to the , if you have any of these symptoms, you should see your doctor about getting your blood sugar tested:

  • Urinate a lot, often at night
  • Are very thirsty
  • Lose weight without trying
  • Are very hungry
  • Have blurry vision
  • Have numb or tingling hands or feet
  • Feel very tired
  • Have very dry skin
  • Have sores that heal slowly
  • Have more infections than usual

The World Diabetes Organization wants one million people to test their risk of type 2 diabetes by the end of November.
