When you hear “plein air” art do you know what this means in terms of location, platform, and artist?

This is a French term for “outdoors” and that is exactly what the artist’s encompass in their pieces.

Michelle recently met with Ruth Kitchen from the Plein Air Painters of Northwest Michigan to learn all about an art exhibit in Traverse City that is benefiting the City Opera House.

15 artist’s from all across northwest Michigan are coming together to showcase over 100 pieces of art through Dec. 30 during the City Opera House’s regular hours and special events. Everything will be available for purchase and all the proceeds go to the City Opera House to benefit local events and groups.

Many of these artist’s are retired from their full-time jobs and have taken on the task of painting beautiful landscapes, wildlife, and other northern Michigan scenery.
