Michigan Senate Approves Bill to Lift Deer Baiting Ban

The bill to lift the deer baiting ban passed the Michigan Senate today.

Deer baiting is banned in the Lower Peninsula and in parts of the U.P.

It was put in place by the state to try and slow the spread of chronic wasting disease.

The Michigan Senate voted Wednesday to reverse the ban.

It now goes back to the House for re-approval due to some changes.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer does not support the bill.

She has said it won’t change the rules for this year, but could at least start a conversation.
