Michigan Attorney General Receives Support from Other States on Enbridge Line 5 Lawsuit

Three state’s attorneys general are backing Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s lawsuit against Enbridge.

Attorney General Nessel wants to decommission to the Line 5 pipeline in the Straits of Mackinac.

She argues that it violates Michigan’s Environmental Protection Act because it’s likely to pollute the Great Lakes.

Nessel says Minnesota and Wisconsin’s attorneys general support her argument because they recognize the importance it has on the Great Lakes.

California’s also filed support.

Last week a Michigan judge had ruled the agreement for the Line 5 pipeline was constitutional.

The case has now moved to the court of appeals.
