Michigan Budget Standoff Unlikely to End Until December
The standoff between Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the legislature likely won’t be figured out until next month.
The state House will not meet to vote this week.
It began its three-week recess for hunting season and Thanksgiving last week.
There had been a possibility they would meet Wednesday if a deal was reached.
Governor Whitmer line-item vetoed nearly a billion dollars from the budget she signed in September.
She and lawmakers have been negotiating supplemental bills to restore that funding.
They’re at odds over a proposal to limit the Governor’s ability to move funds within state departments.
