“We have an awful lot in this country and we owe a lot to them

for the freedoms we enjoy every single day.”

Students at the Old Mission Peninsula School wanted to show their appreciation for the sacrifices Veterans in their community have made for their freedom. The students and staff put together a special assembly to honor those who have bravely served our country.

Veteran Dr. Kenneth Musson, says, “I’m very pleased that the people here at old mission school felt it was important to do this. It’s a very important part of education.”

25 veterans spent the morning with students, where the students poured their hearts in the national anthem, military songs and asked them thoughtful questions.

Rick Couturier, the Head of the Old Mission Peninsula School says, “I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for our students to understand a little bit of the history involved in addition to making that connection to those community members who may not even have any idea they have served.”
