Kalkaska K-9 Team Has First Drug Arrest

What started as a traffic stop turned into the first drug arrest for a new K-9 team.

The Kalkaska Department of Public Safety says they pulled over Steven Vining of Pontiac Wednesday afternoon.

During the stop the officer arrested Vining for having about 16 grams of meth.

Officers also say they found $990.

Vining is being held on a $30,000 bond.

The department also says this was the first drug related arrest for the team of officer Cole Nagy and K-9 Tezka.

The two just graduated K-9 handler school last Thursday.
