Millions in Grants to Help Low-Income Families Cover Heating Costs

More than $54-million in grants will help Michiganders who are behind on their power bills.

The Michigan Energy Assistance Program is giving funds to local organizations that help low-income families pay for home heating and electrical costs.

The Michigan Public Service Commission says the assistance can be used to cover electrical, natural gas, propane or other fuels used to give heat.

They also say it can also go towards helping with insulation or other ways to reduce energy waste.
