Senator Peters Meets With Farmers in Traverse City

Michigan U.S. Senator Gary Peters was in Northern Michigan Friday morning meeting with farmers from across the area.

The senator made the visit to Traverse City to discuss trade policies and the impact they’re having on our area.

The senator discussed what’s next after the U.S. International Trade Commission’s decision to issue tariffs against Turkey.

Farmers say Turkey had been unfairly dumping tart cherries, causing U.S. farmers to lose money.

Senator Peters heard about the impact the current trade war with China has had on farmers.

The senator also took time to discuss legislation that would add agriculture inspectors at the border.
