The Old Walton Cemetery can be found in Fife Lake Township. But it’s not as simple to get to as you may have initially thought. Your GPS will take you down a bumpy two-track into what feels like the middle of nowhere.
Jamie Hunt and Daniel Everson, Team Leaders of the Cherry Capital Shadow Seekers took us to this forgotten cemetery, not only with the hope of spooking us but leaving us with a better understanding of the afterlife. “We just want them to be heard and we want their stories to be told and maybe someday we can discover what their story is and why they’re here,” explains Jamie Hunt.
This cemetery dates back to the 1800’s and now nature has taken over. A forest can be found overshadowing what was once a place to mourn loved ones. “The headstones are still in the cemetery you just can’t see them. They are covered by rocks and moss has overgrown all the headstones,” says Jamie.
But this wasn’t just a history lesson, they were hoping the spirits would pay us a visit. Daniel Everson asked, “Is anybody standing next to Madison right here? Madison is the news reporter. She’s the press. This is what you guys want— you want to be known – the press is here!”
When it comes to paranormal investigations, there are several ways of communication. Jamie and Daniel decided to give the Estes Method a try. The team split into two– Jamie in the car and Daniel out in the cemetery. “Jamie is going to be situated herself in the car and she’s going to be listening to an ITC communications app,” explained Daniel.
The team that went into the cemetery was asking questions and waiting to hear the response through the walkie talkie. Daniel asked, “Is there anybody out here right now around us right now… hear that? Yes we heard that! We heard you!”
Each time the team gets together is a success. “Every time we go out we learn something new, we learn more history and more research,” says Jamie.
