Great Lakes Children’s Museum Receives Programming Grant

The Great Lakes Children’s Museum has some big plans for a big grant for children’s programming.

The museum in Traverse City just got word of an $18,000 dollar grant, and they say plans are already in the works. The funding comes from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

That money will go towards programming, including foreign language lessons in Chinese, Russian, and Native American languages. And music is also a focus for programming efforts.

Lisa Pointe with the Great Lakes Children’s Museum says, “We definitely have plans for the programming. Right now we have some music classes going on and we also have a really popular Arts in Action program going on, that we have on Saturdays throughout the winter.”
