FSU Invites Service Animals to Participate in National Disabilities Awareness Month

Tons of service animals made a stop at Ferris State University’s campus Thursday to raise awareness.

FSU has been participating in National Disabilities Awareness Month all October long with different events.

Thursday they invited service and therapy animals to campus and of course their human counterparts as well.

The school says this shows how many FSU students and staff need these animals and that they are always welcome.

“One in four people have a disability, whether that’s a physical disability or some other hidden disability. These individuals need to be included and thought of by everybody not just those that it directly affects,” said Administrative Assistant, Maggie Walcott.

The university plans to make “Companions in the Quad” an annual event
