Representative Pushes for Stricter School Bus Laws

There is a new push in Lansing to keep kids safe at the bus stop.

State Representative Jack O’Malley testified to House panel in support of bills that would make failing to stop for a school bus a misdemeanor.

It’s just a civil infraction right now.

It would also allow buses to be equipped with stop arm cameras to catch evidence of a driver driving past when the red lights are on.

The bills would also toughen penalties for those who board a bus without permission.
