Oasis of Cadillac Shares an Impactful Message on Domestic Violence

Did you know that half of all homeless women and children in the U.S. are fleeing domestic violence?

Oasis of Cadillac is working to raise awareness and provide shelter for these families and today we spoke with Executive Director Amber Herlein to learn about their mission.

Oasis is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has been serving the Wexford/ Missaukee County areas since 1984. Their main purpose is to provide shelter and counseling for victims of domestic violence and their children.

We heard from … who escaped domestic violence with his mother as a child and how Oasis helped them get back on their feet.

His emotional story is one you won’t want to miss and you can hear his powerful message in the video above.

They are also promoting their upcoming event, Cadillac Area Oasis Family Resource Center Candlelight Vigil which is this Thursday, Oct. 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Rotary Pavillion in Cadillac. They are encouraging everyone to come out and show their support for victims and for the community. There will be beverages and snacks following the vigil as well.
