Manistee Residents Looking for Help With Shoreline Erosion

High lake water levels and strong winds are causing concerns for those with lakeshore property in Manistee.

During a Manistee County board meeting Tuesday morning residents begged the board for help.

They say they are losing shoreline property and it’s a time sensitive situation.

Those living in this area have tried putting up rocks and different break walls but they keep getting washed away.

The erosion is happening because the banks are being undercut by the water.

Without a solution, many are worried their properties will end up in the water.

Residents are hoping FEMA can step in and help.

The water levels are expected to continue rising.
