First Federal Opioid Trial to Begin in Cleveland

The first federal trial related to the nation’s opioid crisis is set to begin Monday in Cleveland, Ohio.

It comes after six drug companies accused in thousands of lawsuits across the country, failed to reach a settlement last week.

According to court documents, the six defendants include three large pharmaceutical distribution companies.

A smaller distributor, a generic drug company, and pharmacy chain Walgreens.

The federal trial combines nearly two-thousand cases involving state, cities, counties, communities and tribal lands.
