The Best Weekend to View Fall Colors

This weekend calls for a hike in the woods or a drive along the Great Lakes shoreline. The weekend of October 19th and 20th (this weekend) is the best time to view fall colors! Temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s for Northern Michigan, along with plenty of sunshine in the forecast!

Fall foliage has really popped over the last 3-5 days all across Michigan. The best viewing spots and the most vibrant colors are across the Lower Peninsula. Locations along M-115, US-131 and I-75 are reporting areas of incredible reds and brilliant oranges. Don’t be surprised if you see leaves dropping quickly in the highest elevations!

Lakeside areas are nearing peak conditions, with some spots already in the peak zone. It looks like the best color develops near the water next week. Peak to past peak color is the story for much of the Upper Peninsula, so get out and enjoy a nice drive this weekend! Next week the weather looks soggy and cloudy, so soak up the sunshine this weekend!
