Grand Traverse Co. Sheriff Promises Extra Patrols For October Safety
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office is also getting in on MSP’s month-long safety initiative, Click it or Ticket.
The department got a $30,000 grant from the Office of Highway Safety Planning to staff road patrols for seat belt enforcement.
They’ll also be looking for any drunk or drugged drivers.
From now until the end of the month, they will be paying special attention to Garfield, East Bay and Blair Townships.
Lieutenant Brian Giddis says the grant lets his department focus their attention on road safety.
“The nice thing about this grant is the deputies, when they go on an assigned overtime shift for this grant, they can focus directly on traffic enforcement and not be pulled away from that to do anything else,” Giddis says.
The next seat belt enforcement crackdown is in December.
