A Northern Michigan school received an exciting gift in the name of learning.

Serra Subaru of Traverse City visited Central Grade School with boxes of brand new books Thursday.

They visited a fifth grade class and handed out 150 books to the students.

The books are science and technology focused.

Fifth grade teacher Heather Vanstratt says the classroom was full of excitement as the students immediately started flipping through the pages.

“They were thrilled,” she said. “They were excited to get their hands on them. I heard one student say ‘It smells fantastic!’ Our classroom libraries are the heart of our classroom, so having 150 books donated won’t just impact this year’s students but students for years to come.”

The donation was part of the “Subaru Loves Learning” program and the “Sera Cares” initiative, which aims to positively impact the local community.
