SEEDS has offered an after school program at Fife Lake Middle School for years, now they’re taking the program over to the elementary school.

“There’s so many different facets that we cover in this program,” says Jackie Jenkins, SEEDS site coordinator. “We focus mostly on outdoor activities, STEM activities, nutrition, arts, social emotional learning.”

When school lets out, the learning doesn’t stop for these Fife Lake Elementary Students. Hands on activities, like this messy slime, makes it feel more like play.

“It’s nice when three o’clock hits and they’re still excited to be here in school,” says Josh Rothwell, Fife Lake Superintendent and Elementary Principal.

The SEEDS after school program allows students to develop skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, as well as social skills.

The program runs four days a week throughout the school year and for six weeks in the summer.

Rothwell says the program also helps parents. “In our region I think after school child care is really tough to find and so to provide this opportunity for a large chunk of our kids I think is great for the parents.”

A place for kids to be kids and parents to breathe a sigh of relief, knowing their kids are safe and cared for while they’re busy providing for their families.

Riley Tracey, a SEEDS student, says, “Because then you just don’t have, you don’t have to go home and be bored you can just have fun.”

The seeds after-school program is completely free. A list of seeds after school programs can be found .
