Northern Michigan Dealerships Impacted by Continued UAW Strike

The UAW strike against General Motors is now in week 5, and Northern Michigan car dealers are feeling the impact.

Local dealerships are starting to see a shortage of parts.

We checked in with Dave Kring Chevrolet Cadillac in Petoskey.

They say their biggest issue right now is in their body shop.

They are starting to run low on different parts. That’s meant working with different dealers across the Midwest to meet each other’s needs.

“There are instances where cars are drivable, where we have to just temporary fix it so the customer can get back on the road until we can get the parts from the factory,” said Dave Kring, Owner of Dave Kring Chevrolet Cadillac. “We just have to do the best we can with what we’ve got right now and make it work.”

Kring says it will still take some time to get things all caught back up, even after the UAW and GM reach a deal.
