The remains of a Michigan war hero are finally coming home after nearly 70 years missing overseas.

Sergeant David Feriend enlisted in the Army soon after World War II.

He called Fife Lake home but later re-upped and was deployed to Korea during the early days of the war.

In 1950, the family received word that he was missing in action.

Last year North Korea turned over multiple human remains from the war.

Sergeant Feriend was identified with DNA testing and is now finally coming home.

Patriot riders and state police will escort his remains to a Traverse City area funeral home.

We will have a crew at Sergeant Feriend’s funeral on Sunday.
