Hook & Hunting: Pheasant Season

This month marks the start of pheasant season across Michigan.

The season opened Thursday in the Upper Peninsula

It opens in the rest of the state next week.

The DNR is reminding hunters they need a basic hunting license along with a free pheasant endorsement.

There is a bag limit of two per day and a personal possession limit of four.

They say the season is one of the best for hunters to get out and enjoy.

“Pheasant season is a really great time of year. It’s early in the year, it’s not too cold yet, crisp, beautiful time of year to get out, walk around, I know some people will hunt with dogs, some people just walk around and have a good time, enjoying the outdoors,” said Wildlife Technician Angela Herban.

The DNR says there will also be several mentored hunts in the southern part of the state.
