WWII Man’s Remains Return Home to Northern Michigan

The remains of a Michigan war hero are finally coming home, after nearly 70 years of missing overseas.

WOODTV 8 reports Sergeant David Feriend had called Northern Michigan home.

Feriend enlisted in the army after the end of World War II.

He then came back home to Fife Lake.

He later re-upped and was deployed to Korea during the early days of the war.

In 1950, the family received word that he was missing in action.

Then last year, North Korea agreed to return human remains from the war.

Sergeant Feriend’s remains will be coming home to Michigan Friday.

Patriot Riders and state police will escort his remains to a Traverse City area funeral home.
