2 Bald Eagles Soaring Again After Taken in By Wings of Wonder

Two bald eagles are flying free once again here in Northern Michigan.

Wings of Wonder released the eagles Wednesday night in Peshawbestown.

The nonprofit organization nurses injured raptors back to health.

The executive director tells us the eagles were found in Northport and in Marquette.

One of them was in critical condition and the other was very sick.

Wings of Wonder began rehabilitation at the beginning of September.

Dozens of people came to the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians’ pow-wow grounds to watch them take flight.

“It’s absolutely exciting to see them go free and to share this experience with the community here. That’s kind of our gift back to them for the great support that they give us,” Rebecca Lessard, Wings of Wonder executive director said.

She says the nonprofit relies on donations.
