Hook & Hunting: Bow Hunting Safety

Archery season started this week for all of Michigan’s hunters.

This season still requires hunters to have a valid deer license or an antlerless deer license.

As always, the DNR says you should check your equipment, dress for the weather and wear clothing that let other hunters see you before heading out to the woods.

“It is always important to truly identify your target and only shoot at what you know is your legal game,” said Lt. Joe Molnar of Traverse City.

“Don’t shoot at movement and brush or at a game call because other hunters could be in the woods utilizing calls that someone might mistake for game.”

Archery season runs through Jan. 1 of 2020.

Firearm season takes place this year from November 15-30.
