10th Annual Great Lakes Glass Pumpkin Patch Day Happening this Weekend

The 10th Annual Great Lakes Glass Pumpkin Patch Day is happening Saturday, Oct. 5th in Emmet County. This festival celebrates fall and the art of glassblowing featuring 2 local glassblowers, Harry Boyer of Boyer Glassworks, Lynn Dinning of Good Hart Glassworks and Three Pines Studio in Cross Village.

Lynn Dinning says, “From the first time I blew a bubble I was hooked!” This is a craft that Lynn has mastered over the years and now teaches to others. She shows them how to make her signature fall pumpkins. “You can see from the different pumpkins— they are little personalities,” says Lynn.

Harry Boyer from Harbor Springs shares, “There’s so much movement in the glass while we’re working with it. So when I pick up colors they sort of drift around a little bit and twist where other times they’ll stay exactly where you put them.”

The event features live music, demonstrations and food. Joann Condino, the co-owner of Three Pines Studio explains, “We got the idea 10 years ago because we had a wonderful experience in Santa Fe. I looked at all the pumpkin patches in the country and there wasn’t one in the Great Lakes so we came home and decided to add our local blowers to participate in one!”
