7-Year-Old Barryton Boy Asks for Support and Awareness for Rare Brain Cancer

A 7-year-old Barryton boy has been battling a rare form of brain cancer for nearly one year. Now, he’s looking to raise awareness.

Bentley Thatcher has a form of brain cancer known as diffuse midline glioma, but that doesn’t keep him from enjoying what other kids his age love to do—getting down in the mud.

You’re invited to the Fall Crawl-Off Road Festival in Barryton on Oct. 12.

It’s a gathering Bentley is hoping can also be an 8th birthday celebration.

“He tries so hard when he’s not feeling good to be just to be this most positive child, and try to help, but he’s just limited right now with what he can do,” says Ashley Thatcher, Bentley’s mother. “The prayers are incredible, he’s made it this far and that’s a miracle on its own.”
