Michigan Medicaid Made Easier for Residents
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has signed a new bill which intends to make it easier for residents to meet Medicaid work requirements.
Able adults ages 19 through 61 have to show their working, going to school or getting job training at least 80 hours a month.
The requirements were passed by the Republican controlled legislation and signed by Gov. Synder last year.
Whitmer says this bill will reduce the number of people who could be impacted by the restrictions.
She also says the Michigan legislation is not allocating the funding needed for the change.
Her budget requested $10 million for an awareness campaign, training and referral services.
Michigan’s new Medicaid requirements will go into to effect in January.
