Former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders Speaks at Mackinac GOP Conference

On Friday, Republican leaders from across the country made their way to Northern Michigan.

They are here for the 33rd Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference.

Friday’s special guest speaker was former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

She was greeted with a warm welcome when she walked to the podium.

“I’m not used to coming into a room where people are happy to see me” said Huckabee Sanders as the conference audience applauded her.

She had a contentious relationship with the White House Press Corps during her time in D.C.

However, on Mackinac Island, she was among friends.

Huckabee Sanders started out by showing her support for U.S. Senate candidate John James.

“He is just a tremendous, tremendous person. I’m so glad he’s running. He needs people to commit in every way possible to make sure he gets elected.”

She encouraged Republicans to get involved in this next election cycle.

If you want to see real chaos in Washington, it’s simple we can elect Democrats,” said Huckabee Sanders.

“If we want to stop that type of chaos we have to make sure Republicans win in 2020.”

While she is no longer working inside the White House, Huckabee Sanders is still a strong supporter of President Trump.

“They said that the President wouldn’t win and he did. They said he couldn’t grow our economy and he did. They said he wouldn’t rebuild our military and he did. They said he wouldn’t build a wall and he has, they said he wouldn’t fight for you and he has.”

Saturday’s speakers include U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy Devos and Vice President Mike Pence.
