Kalkaska High School Upgrades Kitchens Thanks to Health Department Grant

Students in Kalkaska are now cooking in upgraded kitchens thanks to a grant for the school district.

The District Health Department No. 10 awarded $5,000 to Kalkaska High School.

The money is being used to buy new ovens, stovetops, pots, pans and other kitchen necessities.

The class is geared toward helping students learn healthy habits through smart shopping and preparing healthy meals.

Health teacher, Chuck Schuba, says the popular class is an effort to prepare them for the future.

He said he hopes they learn about healthier foods, good shopping choices and cooking methods to help them live a long life.
