Manistee Nonprofit in Desperate Need of Volunteer Drivers to Take Veterans to Doctors’ Appointments

The organization in Manistee has been providing free medical rides to local veterans for years; but they are in desperate need of volunteers.

As of right now, they only have three volunteer drivers. And in the last five months they’ve given 120 rides.

“If you need medical care, you need to make appointments; you got to go, and they’re there for you,” says Mark Lijewski, who served in the marines for 21 years. “I think the veterans deserve transportation to where they’re going. It’s a minor service, but it’s a greatly needed one. And we need drivers.”

You can sign up to be a volunteer driver by contacting Eric Sullivan, the Manistee County Veteran’s Affairs Director, at (231) 510 9209.
