Hook & Hunting: Early Antlerless Firearm Event

Hunters getting an early start on Michigan’s deer season will be heading into the woods this weekend

The early antlerless firearm event runs this Saturday and Sunday.

Hunters can get the license for use on private land only as well as certain counties where there is an overpopulation of deer.

The DNR says it is the perfect time to get out because deer are more visible as they feed on unharvested crops.

“Theoretically your chances of getting some of these does or antlerless deer are better and it might be a good time to join up with a seasoned hunter and take advantage of the early antlerless season,” said Steve Griffith of the Michigan DNR.
